On behalf of the Executive Committee, we are pleased to invite you to the Annual General Meeting of the Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Society of Malta. Your participation helps shape our educational agenda, research priorities, and professional standards for the coming year.

May I invite you to also settle your 2026 membership since only paid members will be eligible to compete for the vacant posts and for the chairs of subcommittees.

The LESM is open to all specialists, doctors in training and foundation doctors interested in pursuing their careers in minimally invasive surgery and endoscopy.

 

The fees for the joint membership of the LESM, EAES and ALSGBI are as follows:

  • Member: 120 Euro per year
    • Certified minimally invasive and/or endoscopic practitioners
  • Associate Member: 95 Euro per year
    • Currently applicable to all BSTs and HSTs in training.
  • Initiate: 55 Euro per year
    • Currently applicable to all foundation doctors interested in the field of minimally invasive surgery and endoscopy.
  • Medical students: 20 euro per year

Who can join LERSM?

Membership is open to consultants, trainees, nurses, allied professionals and medical students with an interest in minimally-invasive surgery. Non-clinical researchers and industry partners may apply for associate membership.

How much is the annual fee and what does it include?

As a LERSM member, you benefit from our partnership with the European Association for Endoscopic Surgery (EAES) and Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (ALSGBI) gaining discounted course fees, and eligibility for travel and research grants. Membership Details

  • Student: 20 EUR per year – For undergraduate students with an interest in surgery
  • Initiate: 85 EUR per year – For foundation doctors in the field of minimally invasive surgery
  • Associate: 95 EUR per year – For BST and HST trainees in relevant surgical fields
  • Member: 120 EUR per year – For certified practitioners in minimally invasive surgery

How do I apply for membership?

You can apply through the website. Click on the “About” section where you can click on the “Become a Member” link.

Can non-members attend events?

Non-members can attend courses and register to most events. However as a member you will get discounts on courses and events organised by LERSM.

Are LERSM events accredited for CPD/CME points?

Yes, our courses and events get CME accreditation.

What kinds of resources are in the Members Area?

The members area is aimed at giving our members access to course notes, instruction videos and presentations.
